Our History

The story of our past, great challenge and great victory, says we should have great humility.

2004 Humble Beginning

Self-funded and out of a spare bedroom, Gemini is born, June 1. By the end of 2004 Gemini had 1,000 sq. ft., expanded service from central California to the Bay Area and started offering medical benefits to its employees.

2006 Color of Energy

Orange became the new Gemini corporate color. No longer an afterthought, marketing—and energy—make an immediate, bold impact and generate visual industry interest in Gemini.

2007 GenieDocs

Ahead of its time, GenieDocs gave users instant, 24-hour access to order, gain status, OCR search and receive records.

2010 LEAN Journey

A turning point, Gemini’s four-person executive team embarks on an intensive learning path. LEAN is Plan A and there is no Plan B. Gemba Kaizen, war on waste, quality at the source, direct observation and visible work, all LEAN foundations, were set in stone.

2012 Market Expansion

Gemini expanded into Southern California. Market analysis was clear, two-thirds of all contested workers’ compensation claims originate in Southern California.

2014 The Move

Corporate headquarters moved from Visalia to Rocklin, California. Well executed, our clients experienced no interruption to their service. Our new home provided a larger employee pool, necessary to support Gemini’s growth.

2015 Fee Schedule

Workers’ compensation evidence discovery fees become regulated in July with the promise of reduced friction.

2018 Vocational Service Launch

Gemini purchases a post-settlement vocational counseling company to help injured workers reenter the work force.

2019 Technological Growth

Gemini launched a new e-filing portal to streamline records filing and processing.

2020 CFO of the Year

Gemini president, Tony Daugherty, is honored as CFO of the Year by Sacramento Business Journal.

2021 Opportunity Knocks

A sudden shift in the industry led to unprecedented growth opportunities for Gemini. Staff and work volume nearly doubled in just six months.

2021 Corporate Citizenship Award

Gemini is awarded, by Sacramento Business Journal, a Corporate Citizenship Award for serving basic needs and making a positive impact on Sacramento.

2022 Expansion to Civil Law

Gemini purchases Sayler Legal and expands operations and services to areas of civil law.

2023 The Move, Part 2

Gemini purchases commercial office space in Rocklin, California and relocates headquarters.
